Porcelain

Apr 30th - May 21st, 1982

Resident Artist Solo Exhibition: Kathie Regan.

Kathie Regan, a ceramist working in porcelain, will exhibit her recent work at The Clay Studio, April 30-May 21. Ms. Regan, whose talent as a ceramist first emerged in earlier raku pottery, has traded the smoky earthiness of raku for the more sensual fluidity of porcelain. This new porcelain work, which features wheelthrown and then distorted forms, presents an image reminiscent of the dunes and ocean. Subtle celadons and primordial seacrest blacks accent the trailed slips which give added dimension to the fluidity of the porcelain clay body and serve to unify the inner and outer surfaces of the work.

A founding member of The Clay Studio, Ms. Regan studied with Ken Vavrek at Moore College, Peter Vaskys at PCA and Robert Turner at Penland. She has participated in group shows at The Walnut Street Theatre, the Muse Gallery, the Spirit of the Earth Gallery, New Hope as well as in shows at area col-leges. She was an exhibitor at The Philadelphia Craft Show in 1979. A reception for the artist will be held at the gallery on Friday, April 30 from 6-9 pm. Gallery hours are 2-5pm, Monday through Saturday.
