Anissa Ben Jaballah, an analog photography devotee, was born in the United States but is originally from Tunisia, where her self-directed journey into photography began. Over the past five years, she has dedicated herself to refining her techniques, which ultimately led her back to the United States to further immerse herself in the craft. Anissa’s work is a unique fusion of photography with other art forms and academic disciplines, particularly critical theory and anthropology. This interdisciplinary approach has recently guided her to explore clay, drawn by its primal connection to the earth and its ability to embody human ideals through the transformation of formless material into meaningful shapes.

Anissa has exhibited her work in Tunisia and is currently preparing for an upcoming show that has been two years in the making. Before her current role at The Clay Studio, Anissa contributed to the Arts Council of Greater Lansing, where she honed her skills in community building and artist engagement, focusing on logistical support for the region’s creative community.
