Amy Sarner, "Fields of You" is the newest exhibit of ceramic work at The Clay Studio Gallery which continues to focus this season on the work of emerging Philadelphia artists.
Inspired by a recent tour of the Southwest United States Ms. Sarner has utilized the decoration on her wheelthrown raku vessels to provide a visual journey for the viewer. The control evident in the decoration is well-balanced against the immediacy and primitive nature of raku firing.
Ms. Sarner studied at the Tyler School and at the Penland School in North Carolina where she worked with Robert Turner. Previously, she has shown her work at The Walnut Street Theatre, the Muse Gallery and recently in "Currents '82" at Middle Tennessee State University. Concurrent with her show at The Clay Studio Gallery her work is being exhibited in "The Great American Bowl" in Newport, Rhode Island.
