About the Program

The Clay Studio’s internship program is geared towards ceramic artists, college students, as well as recent ceramics graduates who are interested in teaching or furthering their ceramic education. The internship program provides experience in the nonprofit sector as part of a supportive educational community.

We are currently accepting applications for our Winter 2025 internship program.  If submitting an application, please be sure to specify which term you are applying for.

Internship Duties

Interns perform a wide variety of important functions throughout the organization. Please note that interns may be required to do physical labor and heavy lifting.

School Internship Duties

Work one day a week for four hours a day, during the Fall, Winter, Spring and/or Summer term. Interns will assist with daily operations in the school. Duties include but are not limited to loading and unloading kilns, maintaining studio glazes, cleaning and mopping the studios, pugging reclaimed clay, school laundry, and other cleaning duties as assigned.

It is important to both the educational value of your experience as well as the stability of the program that applicants are prepared for a commitment of one full 11-week term (44 hours) to The Clay Studio’s Intern Program.

In exchange for this work, participants will receive one free class or Studio Passport with shelf space, access to open studio hours, use of school glazes and free firings.
